There is a range of very similar symptoms that point at different bugs and have different solutions. This page aims at guiding the user to the proper solution.
Missing letters in Plasma
Symptom: the text in the KDE taskbar, in KDE notifications and some plasma widgets are missing some letters.
Workaround:
1) Go to KDE systemsettings > Appearance > Font > Set "Use anti-aliasing" as 'disabled'. Apply.
2) in krunner: killall plasmashell
3) in krunner: plasmashell.
4) Revert step one, Set "Use anti-aliasing" as 'enabled' and repeat step 2 and 3.
