Coloring quoted text when composing mail

When I reply to an email, the quoted text is already colored. However, I know my recipient uses a crap webmail provider (yah**) in which quoted text does not stand out. So, I was trying to color the quoted text (composing an HTML email), but the color apparently does not change. For me, it remains the default green, even though I tried to set a completely different color.
